Exeter College Coffee Morning

Join us at Exeter College, where we are engaging Exeter College students about the industry and making them aware of opportunities here in the South West. There will be three industry speakers presenting information about their job and their experience within their industry:

1. Jordan Peters, Independent Game Developer
2. Jacob Tomlinson from NVIDIA
3. Becky Lees from Greymatter

It is a chance for you to meet, interact and network with the college students (all specialising in IT or gaming), both before the presentations and afterwards during an hour networking session at the college café.

Big Bang South West

We had an absolute blast at the Big Bang South West event!

6,000 students descended onto Westpoint Arena on the 25th June for an event celebrating all things science, tech, engineering and maths (STEM) for 7 to 19 year olds.

Along with our friends at 2times.do , we setup our GAME>PLAY “PONG REWIRED” game where people could play using our wacky controllers, or build their own out of tin-foil!

We also had the Unity game sourcecode available and saw a variety of interesting edits to the game come from the students!

Exeter College Coffee Morning

We held our first ever mini meetup at Exeter College with speakers from TechExeter and Digital Exeter – we often struggle with engaging young people so we decided to take our meetup directly to the students!

Al Mclintock, Industry Placement Liaison Officer initially came to speak to TechExeter earlier in the year to talk about T-levels, and she was thrilled with the idea that we could run a version of our meetup aimed directly at the students

After an introduction from Al and Myself (centre above), we had talks from Sarah Marks (right) – Head of Marketing and Communications at Rezcomm, and Rick Timmis (left) – Engineering Manager for Dell Boomi.

After the talks, the students came along to a networking session where we had a dozen members of our tech+digital community available for students to talk to face to face.

It was a wonderful morning with a great buzz – our next one is in the autumn term and we hope to repeat the success of this joint venture between us and the college!
